2008 Texas Diversity Grant

The Texas Diversity Grant strives to reach players who are in need of financial assistance with expenses relating to both tournament preparation and tournament play. All levels and ages are encouraged to apply. Grant awards will range from $500-$1000. The application deadline is January 15, 2008. Grant recipients serve as role models and ambassadors to the multicultural community and to the sport of tennis. Email Marcos Valdez at valdez@texas.usta.com with questions relating to the grant.

So the grant committee can properly evaluate your grant application, please make sure you remember the following details:

The deadline for submission is Tuesday, January 15th, at 5 p.m. Applications received after the deadline will not be accepted, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Two reference letters must be submitted along with the application. One letter should be from the applicant�s tennis coach or pro, while the other should be from a school official, such as a principal, guidance counselor, or teacher. These letters should address the applicant�s character and why he or she is deserving of the Texas Diversity grant.

A copy of the parents� or guardians� most recent tax return is required with the application.

Please send in applications and additional materials in a timely manner. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. When complete, please send to the address below:

All applicants will receive a letter with the committee�s decision the first week of February.
